The GBase database certification training course of the 6th session this year, organized by the GBASE Nanda General Training Center, concluded at the end of August. Starting from scratch with the GBase 8a cluster product, this training explained the principles and basic usage of the 8a cluster database. A total of over 580 people registered. After two weeks of study, the 8a certification exam was held from August 4 to 6. A total of 288 people took the exam, and 263 passed, earning the GBase 8a MPP Cluster Database Management Engineer certificate.

There were 113 people with scores of 90 or above, among whom 14 achieved excellent results and were listed on the outstanding trainees list for this training session, receiving a free printed certificate of GBase Management Engineer!

On August 24, a grand certificate awarding ceremony was held at the Nanda General Tianjin headquarters for employees who obtained GBase certification certificates in 2022 (including the July 8a training). Nanda General CTO Zhao Wei awarded the certificates and encouraged employees to, under the current international security situation, align with the national information technology innovation environment, seize opportunities, tackle difficulties head-on, and develop excellent database products to serve Chinese users.

Outstanding Trainees Talk about Training

Some outstanding trainees from this session sent their training summaries, learning experiences, and suggestions for the Nanda General GBase database. We appreciate everyone's enthusiastic support for domestic databases. Excerpts are provided below for your reading.

Zhao Zhifei, Data Analyst at Hangzhou Eastern Communications Software Company:

After half a month of systematic GBase 8a training, I gained a deeper understanding of GBase 8a's working principles, functional features, and deployment strategies. As a NewSQL database product, its superior performance in querying and analyzing petabyte-scale data is well-deserved. This training has been very beneficial. GBase 8a, like MySQL, is easy to learn and operate. During the training, I gained a better understanding of system tables, which greatly improved my efficiency in troubleshooting and performance optimization. I will recommend that our team all take the GBASE 8a training.

Shi Mei, Development Engineer at Ordos Bank Co., Ltd.:

Because a data warehouse construction project I am currently involved in has chosen the domestic database GBase 8a, and it will also adopt a cluster architecture, which is one reason I participated in this training. Through this study, I have gained further understanding of the development history, current status, and technical characteristics of domestic databases; I learned about the sharding principles and technical advantages of domestic columnar databases. Moreover, compared to Oracle and MySQL databases, the deployment and management of GBase 8a is simpler, and with the GBase DataStudio management tool, it is even easier to perform GUI-based management. It also follows SQL development standards, providing developers with a good operational interface and consistent development language specifications and standards. I believe this learning will be of great help to my future work.

Cheng Wenjie, Database Engineer at China Great Wall:

Recently, while conducting stress tests on Nanda General's database and wanting to see the current level of domestic databases, I participated in this training. Not only did I learn basic database knowledge, but it also provided some help for my work in testing GBase 8a. As an analytical database, 8a has removed some limitations and improved performance compared to the traditional 8s database. Through this training, I learned about the historical development process of domestic databases and several classifications of domestic databases. With the gradual growth of the information technology innovation industry, the development space for domestic databases will surely see a major breakthrough.

Zhu Jianhua, Project Manager at Nanjing Ruiyue Technology Co., Ltd.:

This training lasted two weeks. Overall, I felt the knowledge points were of moderate difficulty, and the teacher's explanations were detailed and patient. My impressions are as follows:

1. Based on standard SQL, GBase can integrate with other databases, drawing on their strengths and compensating for weaknesses.

2. GBase has significant advantages over other databases, such as advanced multi-process, multi-threaded DSA dynamic scalable architecture, concurrency features, high availability, disaster recovery implementation, two-site-three-center, and the highest security level of Classified Protection Level 4, among other technologies.

3. For those accustomed to other databases, they may find some syntax differences when first encountering GBase, and it might feel a bit unfamiliar. However, I believe there is a reason behind this design, and habit will make it natural.

Thanks to Nanda General for providing this certification training opportunity, and thanks to teachers Mr. Shen, Mr. Hao, and fellow students for their patient answers. The brief GBase training course has ended, but it is just a stop on my GBase learning journey. In the future, I will continue to learn GBase and will consolidate and improve through practice.
