This is the second training after GBase 8a MPP Cluster GDCA certification training updates from 8a  9.5.2 version to the latest version 9.5.3. Product Introduction and New Version Updates

GBase 8a MPP Cluster (hereinafter referred to as "8a cluster") is a large-scale distributed parallel database cluster system independently developed by GBASE, leading in China. It has the ability to meet the growing demands of data-intensive industries for data analysis, data mining, data backup, and ad-hoc queries. It has been deployed on a large scale by hundreds of users including China Banking Regulatory Commission, Agricultural Bank of China, China Mobile, General Administration of Customs, etc., with a total of over 35,000 deployed nodes and managing over 400PB of data.

Version V9.5.3 has implemented more than 100 functional requirements. Compared with V9.5.2, the main improvements and enhancements are:

1. Stability Enhancement: GCware is decoupled and separated from GCluster. The three functional clusters: GCluster scheduling cluster, Data computing cluster, and GCware management cluster can be deployed independently with clearer responsibilities. Supports node status monitoring mechanism to improve cluster stability and enhance stability during node replacement process;

2. Performance Improvement: Supports multi-instance deployment to improve overall cluster performance, especially in NUMA architecture server environments; improves performance of small file loading, union queries, and dblink scenarios with high network latency.

3. Compatibility Improvement: Enhanced compatibility of functions and syntax with heterogeneous databases such as Oracle, GreenPlum, Teradata; supports loading of ORC and JSON format data;

4. Security Enhancement: Refined drop permission and unmask data masking permission management, transparent storage encryption supports national cryptographic algorithms, supports Kafka security authentication.

GBase 8a MPP Cluster GDCA certification training upgraded, content updated by 40%, main changes:

1. Gcware is separated from Gcluster and can be deployed on different nodes.
2. GBase 8a database provides a v9.5.3 nolicense free version, no license application is required.
3. There is no limit on the number of Gcluster nodes, and the number of Gcware nodes is limited to within 64.
4. Explanation of 8a database principles for v953 version and introduction of new features.

Course Introduction

This course starts from scratch with the 8a cluster product, explaining the principles and basic usage of the 8a cluster database. The entire course is divided into two stages: study and examination, 10 days of study, 1 mock exam, 2 certification exam opportunities. The entire course organizes training and exams in the form of an online learning boot camp, allowing learners to gradually master basic knowledge of domestic databases through scientific and reasonable arrangements.

Learning Objectives:

  • Help learners understand the working principles, functional features, and deployment strategies of the 8a cluster, and establish basic concepts of database MPP architecture.

  • Enable learners to master the installation, management, and maintenance of the 8a cluster database, and be able to solve some cluster status anomaly issues.

  • Enable learners to master data operations on a single virtual cluster database, including CRUD operations on data in the database, management and assignment of user permissions, viewing system tables, etc.

  • June 3 - 11: Registration

  • June 12 - 21: One day's course unlocked at 6:00 AM each day

  • June 22 - 26: Certification exam (2 attempts)

Training Process

  • Registration: To participate in the training, you need to register first. After successful registration, you can start learning (available on mobile phone, tablet, or computer).

  • Email notification: On the day the course starts and the day before the exam, registered participants will receive training notification emails. Please check your mailbox (ensure the email address is correct).

  • WeChat study group: After successful registration, a teacher's corporate WeChat will pop up. It is recommended to add the teacher as a friend and leave a message with "8a, the name and mobile number used during registration". After verifying the information, you will be invited to join the study communication group (joining the group is voluntary and participants must abide by group rules; irrelevant people are not allowed).

  • Class format: Online recorded video courses. During the learning phase, one course is unlocked at 6:00 AM each day, and you can arrange your study time independently.

  • Exercises: After-class exercises + mock exam to timely test learning effectiveness.

  • Certification exam: Online exam. Exam vouchers will be issued to those who meet the learning conditions. Those who pass the exam will receive a free GBase Management Engineer certification certificate (electronic version).
